இன்டர்நேஷனல் ரேஞ்சர் விருது - 2021
உலகம் முழுவதும் பாதுகாக்கப்பட்ட வனப்பகுதிகளில் ( Protected Areas) மூன்று வருடங்களுக்கு மேலாக சிறப்பாக பணியாற்றிய பத்து வனச்சரக அலுவலர்களை தேர்ந்தெடுத்து அவர்களுக்கு சர்வதேச வனச்சரகர் விருது வழங்கப்படுகிறது.
இந்த விருதானது சுவிட்சர்லாந்தை தலைமையிடமாகக் கொண்ட பன்னாட்டு இயற்கைப் பாதுகாப்புச் சங்கம் (International Union for Conservation of Nature - IUCN உலகிலுள்ள இயற்கை வளத்தை பாதுகாப்பதற்காக அமைக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு பன்னாட்டு அமைப்பாகும்) பாதுகாக்கப்பட்ட பகுதிகளுக்கான உலக ஆணையம் (World Commission on Protected Areas இயற்கைப் பாதுகாப்புக்கான பன்னாட்டு ஒன்றியத்தின் ஆறு ஆணையங்களில் ஒன்று ஆகும்) சர்வதேச ரேஞ்சர்ஸ் கூட்டமைப்பு ( International Ranger Federation) , உலக வனஉயிரின பாதுகாப்பு மையம் ( Global wildlife Conservation) மற்றும் பாதுகாப்பு கூட்டமைப்பு ( Conservation Allies) ஆகியோர்களால் ஒன்றிணைந்து வழங்கப்படுகிறது.
இந்த விருதனாது இந்த வருடம் தான் முதன்முறையாக வழஙகப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. நூறு நாடுகளிலிருந்து 600 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட வனச்சரக அலுவலர்கள் விண்ணப்பித்துள்ளனர்.
இராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள மன்னார் வளைகுடா தேசியப் பூங்காப் பகுதியில் கடல் அட்டை கடத்தலுக்கு எதிராக எராளமான வழக்குகள் பதிவு செய்ததற்கும், அரிய வகை கடல் வாழ் உயிரினங்களைப் பாதுகாக்க எடுக்கப்பட்ட முயற்சிகளுக்கும் மற்றும் பாக்ஜலசந்தி பகுதியிலுள்ள அலையாத்தி காடுகளில் சிறப்பாக பணியாற்றியமைக்காகவும் இராமநாதபுரம் வனச்சரக அலுவலரான திரு. சு.சதீஷ் அவர்களை டேராடூனில் உள்ள இந்திய வன உயிரின நிறுவனத்தின் (wildlife institute of India) மூத்த அறிவியல் அறிஞரான திரு.சிவக்குமார் அவர்கள் விருதுக்கு முன் மொழிந்திருந்தார்.

He was posted in Gulf of Mannar Marine National immediately after completion of his training at Telengana State Forest Academy, Hyderabad on 1st October 2016.
At that time sea cucumber smuggling was a noted illegal crime which was run by some kingpins. He booked more than 60 cases and remanded more than 100 criminals .
Apart from sea cucumber cases he booked more than 40 cases against birds hunting since Ramanathapuram is having 5 bird sanctuaries.
He faced heavy protest from local smugglers. In 2018, they assaulted his driver brutally. But his continuous patrolling strategy have kicked off many criminals out of the business.
From 2017 to 2019 his team collected more than 40,000 olive ridlley turtle eggs and released hatchlings with 95% survival rate.
He and his team rescued many injured dolphins, sea turtles and released them safely into the sea.
He assisted Vets in carrying out postmortem of dead sea animals and safely buried lot of whale sharks, whales, Dugongs , dolphins and sea turtles .
With the guidance of higher officials, he formed special scuba diving team in Gulf of Mannar to do underwater plastic cleanup programme in 2017 .
His team has raised 100 acres of new mangrove plantation and rejuvenated 100 acres of old mangrove plantation under the guidance of wildlfe warden in Palk bay region.
He actively involved himself in Community based eco tourism to uplift the livelihood of the local community.
He used to host many webinars for college and school students to educate them about marine conservation.
He received Earth heroes award in 2019 under the category of " Save the Species".
Now he has received the International Ranger award for his eminent work in Marine conservation.

கொரோனா தொற்றின் காரணமாக சுவ்ட்சர்லாந்தில் நடக்கவிருந்த விருது வழங்கும் விழாவானது 7.4.2021 அன்று இணைய தளத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. அதில் இராமநாதபுரம் வனச்சரக அலுவலர் திரு.சதீஷ் தமிழக வனத்துறையிலிருந்து தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
இவருக்கு சீருடையில் அணிந்து கொள்ள பிரத்யேகமான பேட்ச்சும் , பரிசுத்தொகையாக US$ 10,000 (ரூ.7.25 லட்சம்) வனத்துறையின் மேம்பாட்டுப் பணிகளுக்காகவும் வழங்கப்பட்டது. இந்த விருதினை இந்தியாவிலுள்ள அனைத்து வனச்சரக அலுவலர்களுக்கும் , மன்னார் வளைகுடாவில் பணி செய்ய வாய்ப்பு வழங்கிய தமிழக வனத்துறைக்கும் அர்ப்பணிப்பதாக இணையதள விருது வழங்கும் விழாவில் வனச்சரக அலுவலர் திரு.சதீஷ் தெரிவித்தார்.
இவர் 2019 ம் ஆண்டு எர்த் ஹீரோஸ் என்ற (RBS EARTH HEROES) விருதினை "சேவ் தி ஸ்பீசீஸ்" ( Save the species ) என்ற பிரிவின் கீழ் பெற்றிருந்தார் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.மேலும் இராமாதபுரம் வனச்சரக அலுவலர் இந்த சர்வதேச விருதினை வாங்கியுள்ளது தமிழக வனத்துறைக்கும், இந்திய நாட்டிற்கும் பெருமை சேர்க்கும விதமாக அமைந்துள்ளது என்று வனத்துறையினர் மகிழ்வுடன் தெரிவித்தனர்.
இவரோடு கம்போடியா, மியான்மார், ரஷ்யா, ஜார்ஜியா, ஜாம்பியா, மடகாஸ்கர், கொலம்பியா, காட்டி தி ஐவோரி போன்ற நாடுகளிலிருந்து 8 வனச்சரக அலுவலர்களும் , உத்திரகாண்டிலில் உள்ள ராஜாஜி புலிகள் காப்பகத்தில் பணியாற்றிய திரு. மகேந்திர கிரி வனச்சரகரும் இந்த விருதினைப் பெற்றுக் கொண்டனர்.
INTERNATIONAL RANGER AWARD 2021
International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)- Switzerland, World Commission on Protected Areas ( WCPA), International Ranger Federation (IRF), Global Wildlife Conservation and Conservation Allies have jointly identified the remarkable Works of the Foresr Range officers all over the world and issuing awards for 10 Range officers selectively. Mr.K.Siva Kumar , senior scientist from Wildlife Institute of India Nominated Mr. Sathish , Forest Range officer from Gulf of Mannar Marine National park for his eminent work . IUCN announced the awardees on 7.4.2021 through online function due to corona . Mr. Sathish has been selected from India for International Ranger Award .Mr.Mahendira Giri, Forest Ranger from Rajaji Tiger Reserve , Uttrakhand also received awrad for his commandable work from India. Other 8 Rangers have been selected from Combodia ,Myanmar, Russia, Georgia, Zambia, Madagascar, Cote d'lvorie and Colombia for their outstanding works .Special uniform batch has been served to Forest Range officer and cash award of US$10,000(7.25 lakh) have been given to Forest department for development work.
Mr.Sathish has been recognised for his outstanding contribution in Gulf of Mannar Marine National park to curb the sea cucumber poaching , Marine endangered animal rescue endeavours and conserving mangrove eco system in Palk bay region. He had received RBS Earth Heroes award under the category of " Save the species" in 2019.
