முயல்களை வேட்டையாடுவது மற்றும் வேட்டையாட முயற்சிப்பது 1972 வன உயிரினப்பாதுகாப்பு சட்டத்தின்படி தண்டனைக்குரியதாகும்.

ஆனால் ஒரு சிலர் முயல்களை வேட்டையாடும் செயல்களில் ஈடுபடுகின்றனர். அவர்களை வனத்துறையினர் கைது செய்து நீதிமன்றத்தில் ஆஜர்படுத்துகின்றனர் அல்லது இணக்கக்கட்டணம் (அபராதம்) விதிக்கின்றனர்.

Schedule IV - Hares Black Naped  Sl.No. 4 இல் காணப்படும் உயிரினமாகும். இது அரசால் பாதுகாக்கப்படும் வன உயிரினமாகும். இவை அரசுக்கு சொந்தமானதாகும். எனவே இவற்றை வேட்டையாடுவது அல்லது அதற்கான எந்த முயற்சியும் எடுப்பது தண்டனைக்குரியதாகும்.

இந்திய குழிமுயல் தெற்காசியாவில் காணப்படும் குழிமுயல் இனத்தைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு பாலூட்டி ஆகும்.

முயல்கள் மற்றும் ஜாக் குழிமுயல்கள் லெபோரிடே என்ற குடும்பத்தின் கீழ் லெபுஸ் (Lepus) என்ற பேரினத்தின் கீழ் வகைப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன. குழிமுயல்கள் எந்த குடும்பத்தின் கீழ் வகைப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளனவோ அதே குடும்பத்தின் கீழ் தான் முயல்களும் வகைப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன. முயல்கள் அளவு மற்றும் வடிவத்தில் குழிமுயல்களை ஒத்துள்ளன. ஒரே விதமான உணவை உண்கின்றன. முயல்கள் பொதுவாக தாவர உண்ணிகளாகவும் மற்றும் நீண்ட காதுகளை உடையவையாகவும், வேகமாக ஓடக்கூடியவையாகவும் உள்ளன. இவை வழக்கமாக தனியாகவோ அல்லது இரண்டு முயல்களாகச் சேர்ந்தோ வாழ்கின்றன. 

ஒரு வயதுக்கும் குறைவான முயல் ஆங்கிலத்தில் லெவெரெட் (leveret) என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. பல முயல்கள் சேர்ந்த ஒரு கூட்டம் ஆங்கிலத்தில் "ட்ரோவ்" (drove) என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.  

Difference between Rabbit and Hare

The Indian hare (Lepus nigricollis), also known as the black-naped hare, is a common species of hare found in the Indian Subcontinent

Hares and jackrabbits are leporids belonging to the genus Lepus. Hares are classified into the same family as rabbits. They are similar in size and form to rabbits and eat the same diet. They are generally herbivorous and long-eared, they are fast runners, and they typically live solitarily or in pairs. Hare species are native to Africa, Eurasia, North America, and the Japanese archipelago.

Five leporid species with "hare" in their common names are not considered true hares: the hispid hare (Caprolagus hispidus), and four species known as red rock hares (comprising Pronolagus). Meanwhile, jackrabbits are hares rather than rabbits.

A hare less than one year old is called a leveret. The collective noun for a group of hares is a "drove".
